Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You're driving along the motorway. What should you do if you have to slow down due to a hazard ahead?

Why this is the answer

Using your hazard warning lights in addition to your brake lights will give the traffic behind you an extra warning of the hazard ahead. Only use them for long enough to be sure that your warning has been seen.

Why the other answers don't fit

B
Check for approaching emergency vehicles — Emergency vehicles matter, and the first thing is warning the traffic behind you.
C
Move to another lane — Changing lane moves the problem sideways and warns nobody.
D
Watch out for motorcyclists — Motorcyclists matter always; the hazard here is what is behind you.
