Band 1 road procedure

What this topic tests
Band 1 is the road-procedure half of the instructor's paper and the largest of the four. Much of it is the ordinary car syllabus asked from the other side of the car: not what you would do, but what your pupil should do and what you would say to them.
- Junctions, crossings and roundabouts — the same rules as the car paper, usually asked as a teaching point.
- Motorway procedure: joining, lane discipline, tiredness, and what to advise a learner who starts to flag.
- Reversing and manoeuvres, including what a pupil should do when they cannot see behind.
- First aid and incidents appear here too. An instructor is expected to know them as well as any driver.
The mark people lose: Answering as the driver when the question is about the pupil. If the stem says "your pupil" or "what should you tell them", the answer is about the instruction, not the manoeuvre.
