UK theory test in Polish

If you are exchanging a Polish licence or learning to drive here for the first time, the theory test is in English and there is no Polish option. Revising with the Polish translation under each question closes the gap: you check your understanding in Polish, and you learn the English sentence the examiner will show you.

What a question looks like

English

What's the speed limit for a car towing a caravan on a dual carriageway?

Answer: 60 mph

Polski

Jaki jest limit prędkości dla samochodu ciągnącego przyczepę kempingową na drodze dwujezdniowej?

60 mph

A good example of why translation alone is not enough: "dual carriageway" becomes a four-word description in Polish. On the exam screen it is two English words, and you need to recognise them instantly.

Polish uses the Latin alphabet, so the reading is familiar — the difficulty is vocabulary, not script. The Polish pages are fully in Polish, from the navigation to the explanations.

British rules that differ from Polish ones

Driving on the left is the obvious one, but the quieter differences cost more marks: roundabout priority and lane discipline, the rules on the hard shoulder, and speed limits that change with what you are towing. The questions here cover each of those in full.

Can I sit the test in Polish?

No. Foreign-language voiceovers and interpreters were withdrawn in 2014, and the test is now English or Welsh only. There is support available if you find reading difficult or you are deaf — what you can and cannot ask for.
