Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You notice a pupil seems to be struggling with a minor disability that's affecting their driving. They have not spoken to you about it. What should you do?

Why this is the answer

Some pupils may be embarrassed to tell you about their disability and instead struggle on as best as they can. Others may think you will not teach them if you know about a disability. If you notice a pupil is struggling you should raise the subject tactfully and offer them options to help overcome the disability.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
Do not mention it until they decide to tell you — Waiting leaves the difficulty affecting their driving in the meantime.
B
Check their driving licence for any restriction codes — A licence code tells you what was declared, not what you are watching happen.
D
Let them know they must declare all disabilities — Only conditions that affect driving have to be declared, so this overstates the duty.

Where this question comes from

The question, its options and the explanation are reproduced word for word from the DVSA revision question bank under licence. The licence requires them to appear unaltered, so we cannot reword them and neither can anyone else — that is why you will meet the same wording on other sites. Everything else on this page is written by Theory Hub: the explanation of why each wrong answer is wrong, the topic guide and the revision notes.
