Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You have a pupil who is colour-blind. How will this affect their ability to drive?

Why this is the answer

A person who's colour-blind will have to take exactly the same practical driving test as any other candidate. No restriction will be placed on their driving licence when they pass their test.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
They must have a doctor's certificate allowing them to drive — No certificate is required for colour blindness.
C
They must have glasses with special lenses — No lens corrects colour blindness for driving purposes.
D
They must have been assessed by an optician before driving — No assessment is required before driving.

Where this question comes from

The question, its options and the explanation are reproduced word for word from the DVSA revision question bank under licence. The licence requires them to appear unaltered, so we cannot reword them and neither can anyone else — that is why you will meet the same wording on other sites. Everything else on this page is written by Theory Hub: the explanation of why each wrong answer is wrong, the topic guide and the revision notes.
