You're entering an area of roadworks. What must you do if you see this sign?
- A Not exceed the speed limit
- B Make sure you do not hold up other drivers
- C Treat the speed limit as advisory
- D Obey the limit when people are working
Why this is the answer
Where there are extra hazards such as roadworks, it's often necessary to slow traffic down by imposing a temporary speed limit. The speed limit sign will be circular and edged with a red ring. This tells you that the sign is an order and you must obey it.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- Make sure you do not hold up other drivers — Holding others up is not the test; the limit is.
- C
- Treat the speed limit as advisory — A limit inside a red ring is mandatory, not advisory.
- D
- Obey the limit when people are working — The limit applies whether or not anyone is working.
