Theory Hub UK Theory Test

Your pupil asks you for an example of when they should use their hazard warning lights. What could you tell them?

Why this is the answer

Hazard warning lights are an important safety feature. Use them if your vehicle has broken down and is causing an obstruction. You can also use them to warn traffic behind of danger ahead when you're driving on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
When you stop on double yellow lines — Hazard lights do not make a parking offence lawful.
C
When you park your vehicle on the pavement — Parking on the pavement is still parking on the pavement.
D
When you park in a restricted area — A restricted area stays restricted whatever lights are flashing.
