When may you wait in a box junction?
- A When oncoming traffic prevents you from turning right
- B When you're in a queue of traffic turning left
- C When there's no oncoming traffic
- D When traffic lights are green
Why this is the answer
The purpose of this road marking is to keep the junction clear of queuing traffic. You may only wait in the marked area when you're turning right and your exit lane is clear but you cannot complete the turn because of oncoming traffic.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- When you're in a queue of traffic turning left — A left turn into a queue means waiting outside the box, not in it.
- C
- When there's no oncoming traffic — With no oncoming traffic you can complete the turn and have no reason to wait.
- D
- When traffic lights are green — A green light does not permit you to enter a box your exit is not clear of.
