Theory Hub UK Theory Test

What should you do if a tyre bursts while you're driving?

Why this is the answer

Try not to panic if a tyre bursts while you're driving. Take your foot off the accelerator and avoid braking suddenly. Try to steer a straight course while holding the wheel firmly.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
Change gear and relax your grip on the steering wheel — Relaxing your grip hands the steering to the burst tyre.
B
Brake sharply and steer to the right — Sharp braking with steering to the right takes you towards oncoming traffic.
D
Brake firmly and steer to the left — Firm braking plus a steer to the left aims you at the kerb while you have least control.
