How often do you have to renew your photo on a photocard car driving licence?
- A Every 10 years
- B Every 5 years
- C Every 25 years
- D Every 30 years
Why this is the answer
Photocard licences are valid for a maximum of 10 years. This is to allow the photographic likeness to be updated when the licence is renewed. However, the licence entitlement usually lasts until age 70.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- Every 5 years — Five years is the renewal period for some other documents.
- C
- Every 25 years — Twenty-five years is far longer than a photograph stays accurate.
- D
- Every 30 years — Thirty years is longer still.

Where this question comes from
The question, its options and the explanation are reproduced word for word from the DVSA revision question bank under licence. The licence requires them to appear unaltered, so we cannot reword them and neither can anyone else — that is why you will meet the same wording on other sites. Everything else on this page is written by Theory Hub: the explanation of why each wrong answer is wrong, the topic guide and the revision notes.
