In Wales, what's the speed limit on a road that has street lights but no speed limit repeater signs?
- A 20 mph
- B 30 mph
- C 40 mph
- D 60 mph
Why this is the answer
If you're not sure of the speed limit, a good indication is the presence of street lights. In Wales, if there's street lighting, the speed limit will usually be 20 mph unless otherwise indicated. In England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, street lights indicate a 30 mph speed limit unless signs indicate otherwise.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- 30 mph — 30 mph is the English and Scottish default; Wales lowered it.
- C
- 40 mph — 40 mph is always signed.
- D
- 60 mph — 60 mph applies where there is no street lighting.
