Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You arrive at an incident where someone is suffering from severe burns. What should you do to help?

Why this is the answer

Clean, cool water will cool the burning tissue and help prevent further damage. It will also reduce swelling, minimise shock and alleviate pain.

Why the other answers don't fit

B
Remove anything stuck to the burns — Anything stuck to a burn is holding the tissue together; pulling it off makes the injury worse.
C
Burst blisters that form on the burns — A blister is a sterile dressing the body made for itself.
D
Apply ointment to the burns — Ointment seals in the heat and has to be cleaned off before treatment.
