Theory Hub UK Theory Test

What should your pupil do before turning left from a busy major road into a minor road?

Why this is the answer

When preparing to turn left into a side road, your pupil should watch out for obstructions or vehicles that may wish to stop and park. This could be before or after the turning.

Why the other answers don't fit

B
Move out to the right to make the turn easier — Swinging right before a left turn confuses everyone behind and invites an overtake up the inside.
C
Check their offside mirror for overtaking vehicles — The offside mirror covers the side they are turning away from.
D
Always select first gear on approach — First gear may be too low, and the gear is chosen for the turn rather than by rule.
