What does this sign mean?
- A The length of a tunnel
- B The length of a low bridge
- C The distance to a tunnel
- D The distance to a low bridge
Why this is the answer
As well as a height restriction, the tunnel may have a restriction on the available width of headroom for high vehicles. The advance warning gives you the opportunity to find another route if your vehicle is too high or wide to drive through the tunnel.
Why the other answers don't fit
- A
- The length of a tunnel — The length of a tunnel is shown on a separate plate once you are at it.
- B
- The length of a low bridge — A bridge carries its height, not a distance.
- D
- The distance to a low bridge — Again, a bridge sign gives headroom rather than a distance.
