What does this road marking mean?

Why this is the answer

A single broken line along the centre of the road, with long markings and short gaps, is a hazard warning line. Do not cross it unless you can see that the road is clear well ahead.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
Do not cross the line — You may cross it, once you can see that it is safe.
B
No stopping allowed — Stopping is governed by other markings.
D
No overtaking allowed — Overtaking is not forbidden here, only warned against.
