How often should tyre pressures be checked?
- A Every time the car is driven
- B At least once a week
- C At least once a month
- D Only before long journeys
Why this is the answer
Check all tyres (including the spare) at least once a week. Do it when they're cold and remember to refit the valve caps. The vehicle handbook will tell you if you need different pressures for different conditions. Remember: because it's so dangerous, it's an offence to use a vehicle with an improperly inflated tyre.
Why the other answers don't fit
- A
- Every time the car is driven — Every journey is more often than needed, and pressures should be set cold.
- C
- At least once a month — A month is long enough for a slow puncture to become dangerous.
- D
- Only before long journeys — Short journeys wear tyres too, and the check is not only for long ones.
