If you saw this sign, what would you tell your pupil?
- A Overtaking is not recommended, but it’s not prohibited
- B Overtaking is prohibited until you see a sign cancelling the restriction
- C There's adequate visibility to overtake safely
- D All traffic ahead is travelling in the same direction
Why this is the answer
This sign means it's illegal to overtake. It may have a black and white plate telling you over what distance the prohibition applies. There will normally be a sign with an 'End' plate where the prohibition ends.
Why the other answers don't fit
- A
- Overtaking is not recommended, but it’s not prohibited — The sign prohibits rather than advises.
- C
- There's adequate visibility to overtake safely — The sign says nothing about what you can see; it bans the manoeuvre.
- D
- All traffic ahead is travelling in the same direction — Direction of travel is not what this sign is about.
