What's the first thing you should do if the vehicle you're driving is involved in a collision?
- A Stop, but only if people are injured
- B Call the emergency services
- C Stop at the scene of the incident
- D Call your insurance company
Why this is the answer
If you're involved in a collision that causes damage or injury to any other person, vehicle, animal or property, by law you must stop. Give your name, the vehicle owner's name and address, and the vehicle's registration number to anyone who has reasonable grounds for requiring them.
Why the other answers don't fit
- A
- Stop, but only if people are injured — You must stop whether or not anyone is hurt.
- B
- Call the emergency services — The emergency services are called after you have stopped.
- D
- Call your insurance company — The insurer is told afterwards.
