Theory Hub UK Theory Test

What's the maximum authorised mass (MAM) of a category B vehicle with a traditional internal combustion engine?

Why this is the answer

Any more weight than this will take the vehicle into a different category, therefore making it unsuitable for a category B driving test. There's a higher MAM for electric or hydrogen-powered zero emissions vehicles.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
3 tonnes — Three tonnes is below the category limit.
C
4.25 tonnes — 4.25 tonnes is the allowance for zero-emission vehicles, whose batteries add weight.
D
7.5 tonnes — 7.5 tonnes belongs to category C1.
