During their test, your pupil is asked to pull up on the left. They drive onto the kerb before stopping with all 4 wheels on the road. What fault would be marked?
- A Control, steering
- B Positioning, normal driving
- C Awareness and planning
- D Position, normal stop
Why this is the answer
When pulling up at the side of the road your pupil needs to be able to accurately judge where the nearside wheels are in relation to the kerb. Driving onto the kerb, stopping on the kerb or stopping too far from the kerb will all be marked as faults.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- Positioning, normal driving — Positioning covers where the car sits while driving along, not how it is steered to a stop.
- C
- Awareness and planning — Awareness and planning is about reading the road ahead.
- D
- Position, normal stop — The car finished in a correct position; the fault was how it got there.
Where this comes from
- DT1 — DT1
