Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You're waiting in a traffic queue at night. What should you do to avoid dazzling drivers behind?

Why this is the answer

You should consider the driver behind, as brake lights can dazzle. Applying the parking brake will prevent your car from rolling, or creeping if you have automatic transmission, without activating your brake lights.

Why the other answers don't fit

B
Apply the footbrake only — Holding the footbrake keeps the brake lights glaring into the eyes behind you.
C
Switch off your headlights — Switching the headlights off makes you invisible from the front.
D
Use both the parking brake and footbrake — Using both still leaves the brake lights on.
