A police car is following you. What should you do if the police officer flashes their car’s headlights and points to the left?
- A Take the next road on the left
- B Stop on the left
- C Continue your journey
- D Move over to the left
Why this is the answer
You must obey signals given by police officers, traffic officers, traffic wardens and signs used by school crossing patrols. When a police officer signals to you to stop, you should stop safely on the left and switch off your engine.
Why the other answers don't fit
- A
- Take the next road on the left — Taking the next road on the left is not what the signal means.
- C
- Continue your journey — Carrying on looks like failing to stop.
- D
- Move over to the left — Moving over without stopping leaves the officer following you.
