Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You're approaching a red light at a puffin crossing. Pedestrians are on the crossing. How long will the red light stay on?

Why this is the answer

The traffic light will remain on red to give pedestrians on the crossing time to reach safety. Do not proceed until the green light shows and it's safe to do so.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
Until you start to edge forward onto the crossing — Edging forward does not change the signal, and it crowds the people crossing.
C
Until the pedestrians are clear of the front of your vehicle — Clear of your bonnet is not the same as safely across.
D
Until a driver from the opposite direction reaches the crossing — What happens in the other direction has no bearing on your light.
