Theory Hub UK Theory Test

You park facing downhill in a vehicle that has automatic transmission. When you leave the vehicle, in which position would you put the gear selector?

Why this is the answer

When parking a vehicle with automatic transmission, you should move the gear selector to the 'P' (Park) position. This locks the transmission and prevents the vehicle from moving forwards or backwards. This will stop it from rolling away should the parking brake fail.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
Drive — Drive will let the car creep forward.
B
Reverse — Reverse is the manual-car answer; an automatic has its own park position.
D
Neutral — Neutral lets it roll freely.
