When should you check the engine oil level?
- A Before a long journey
- B When the engine is hot
- C Early in the morning
- D Before the MOT test
Why this is the answer
As well as the oil, you'll need to check other items. These include fuel, water and tyres.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- When the engine is hot — Hot oil is spread around the engine and drains slowly, so the reading is wrong.
- C
- Early in the morning — The time of day does not matter. What matters is a cold engine on level ground.
- D
- Before the MOT test — The MOT does not test oil level, and waiting that long is far too long between checks.
