Theory Hub UK Theory Test

When can you carry a child as a pillion passenger?

Why this is the answer

Any passenger you carry - no matter how old they are - must be able to reach the footrests and handholds properly to remain safe on your machine. Also make sure they're wearing protective weatherproof clothing and a properly fitting helmet.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
When they're over 14 years old — No age is set in law. What matters is whether the child physically fits the machine.
B
When they're over 16 years old — Sixteen is not the test either; a tall twelve-year-old may fit where a small sixteen-year-old does not.
C
When they can reach the floor from the seat — Reaching the floor is a test for the rider at a stop, not for the passenger on the seat.
