Theory Hub UK Theory Test

What should you do if the amber lights come on and a warning sounds while you're driving over a level crossing?

Why this is the answer

Keep going; do not stop on the crossing. If the warning sounds and the amber lights come on as you’re approaching the crossing, you must stop unless it's unsafe to do so. Red flashing lights together with the audible warning mean you must stop.

Why the other answers don't fit

A
Get everyone out of the vehicle immediately — That applies when you have broken down on the crossing, not when you are moving across it.
B
Stop and reverse back to clear the crossing — Reversing keeps you on the crossing for longer.
D
Stop immediately and use your hazard warning lights — Stopping on the rails is the one thing never to do.
