इन वाहनों का मोटरवे पर इस्तेमाल मना है (MUST NOT) — देखें नियम 253। इन्हें ऐसे बिना पाबंदी वाले डुअल कैरिजवे पर इस्तेमाल नहीं करना चाहिए जहाँ गति सीमा 50 mph (80 km/h) से ज़्यादा हो; लेकिन अगर इन्हें ऐसे डुअल कैरिजवे पर इस्तेमाल किया जाए, तो उन पर चमकती एम्बर बीकन लगी होना अनिवार्य है (MUST)। बाक़ी सभी डुअल कैरिजवे पर भी चमकती एम्बर बीकन का इस्तेमाल करना चाहिए (देखें नियम 220)।
बड़े अक्षर क्यों मायने रखते हैं The Highway Code किसी नियम को बड़े अक्षरों में — MUST या MUST NOT — तब लिखता है जब उसके पीछे क़ानून हो, और तब उसका उल्लंघन आपराधिक अपराध बन जाता है। जिन नियमों में बड़े अक्षर नहीं हैं वे सलाह हैं।

These vehicles MUST NOT be used on motorways (see Rule 253). They should not be used on unrestricted dual carriageways where the speed limit exceeds 50 mph (80 km/h) but if they are used on these dual carriageways, they MUST have a flashing amber beacon. A flashing amber beacon should be used on all other dual carriageways (see Rule 220).
