دروازه یا راه‌بندی که خودِ کاربر باز می‌کند. برخی گذرگاه‌ها تابلوی «Stop» و چراغ‌های کوچک قرمز و سبز دارند. وقتی چراغ قرمز روشن است عبور ممنوع است (MUST NOT)، فقط وقتی چراغ سبز روشن است عبور کنید. اگر با خودرو عبور می‌کنید، باید
- دروازه یا راه‌بند هر دو سوی گذرگاه را باز کنید
- بررسی کنید که چراغ سبز هنوز روشن است و تند عبور کنید
- پس از خالی‌کردن گذرگاه دروازه یا راه‌بند را ببندید.
چرا حروف بزرگ مهم‌اند The Highway Code یک قاعده را با حروف بزرگ — MUST یا MUST NOT — می‌نویسد وقتی پشتوانهٔ قانونی دارد، و نقض آن جرم کیفری است. قاعده‌هایی که حروف بزرگ ندارند توصیه‌اند.

User-operated gates or barriers. Some crossings have ‘Stop’ signs and small red and green lights. You MUST NOT cross when the red light is showing, only cross if the green light is on. If crossing with a vehicle, you should
- open the gates or barriers on both sides of the crossing
- check that the green light is still on and cross quickly
- close the gates or barriers when you are clear of the crossing.
