يُمنع عليك (MUST NOT) التقدّم فوق الخط الأبيض حين يكون الضوء الأحمر ظاهراً. ولا تتقدّم عند الضوء الأخضر إلا إذا كانت هناك مساحة تتيح لك إخلاء التقاطع بأمان، أو كنت تتموضع للانعطاف يميناً. وإذا كانت إشارات المرور معطّلة، فتعامل مع الوضع كما تتعامل مع تقاطع غير معلَّم وتقدّم بحذر شديد.
لماذا الأحرف الكبيرة مهمة يكتب قانون الطريق القاعدة بأحرف كبيرة — MUST أو MUST NOT — حين يكون خلفها نص قانوني، فتصبح مخالفتها جريمة. أما القواعد التي لا تستخدم الأحرف الكبيرة فهي إرشاد.

You MUST NOT move forward over the white line when the red light is showing. Only go forward when the traffic lights are green if there is room for you to clear the junction safely or you are taking up a position to turn right. If the traffic lights are not working, treat the situation as you would an unmarked junction and proceed with great care.
