You're driving a bus on a local service. When can you use this lane?
- A Between 4pm and 6:30pm only
- B Before 4pm and after 6:30pm only
- C At any time of the day
- D Any time except Saturdays
Why this is the answer
As a local-service bus driver, you may use the bus lane at any time. The restrictions apply to other road users, to keep the lane clear for you at peak times. Do not be tempted to speed when driving up the inside of slow-moving or stationary traffic. Be alert for pedestrians who may be trying to cross the road.
Why the other answers don't fit
- A
- Between 4pm and 6:30pm only — A lane with no times shown is in force all the time, not only in the evening.
- B
- Before 4pm and after 6:30pm only — The same applies outside those hours.
- D
- Any time except Saturdays — Saturdays are not excluded unless the plate says so.

Where this question comes from
The question, its options and the explanation are reproduced word for word from the DVSA revision question bank under licence. The licence requires them to appear unaltered, so we cannot reword them and neither can anyone else — that is why you will meet the same wording on other sites. Everything else on this page is written by Theory Hub: the explanation of why each wrong answer is wrong, the topic guide and the revision notes.
