What should you check just before you turn left?
- A The left-hand mirror
- B The interior mirror
- C The right-hand mirror
- D The overtaking mirror
Why this is the answer
When making a left turn with a long vehicle, you may have to adopt an unusual position, well over to the centre of the road. Always signal your intentions in good time, and make good use of the mirrors, especially the left-hand one. Be alert for less experienced road users putting themselves in danger by coming up on your nearside.
Why the other answers don't fit
- B
- The interior mirror — The interior mirror shows the road behind, not the nearside.
- C
- The right-hand mirror — The right-hand mirror covers the side you are turning away from.
- D
- The overtaking mirror — An overtaking mirror is angled far back along the offside.
