What this topic tests
Attitude covers how you behave towards everyone else on the road. The answers are rarely about what you are entitled to do and almost always about what makes the situation safest for somebody else — which is why guessing from your own convenience gets these wrong.
- Never wave anyone across. You cannot see or control the lane beside you, and a wave takes on responsibility for a road you have not checked.
- Flashing headlights means one thing only: I am here. It is not permission, a thank-you or an invitation.
- Tailgating: if someone is close behind you, the answer is to increase the gap in front, never to brake at them.
- Emergency and working vehicles, and what each beacon colour means — blue for emergencies, green for a doctor, amber for slow or working.
The mark people lose: Answering as if being in the right settles it. Holding your speed to stop someone overtaking, or braking to teach a tailgater a lesson, is never the answer the examiner wants.
