सुरक्षा उपकरण। 14 साल से कम उम्र के बच्चों का नियमों के अनुरूप हेलमेट पहनना अनिवार्य है (MUST) और उसे मज़बूती से बाँधना अनिवार्य है (MUST)। दूसरे सवारों को भी इन शर्तों का पालन करना चाहिए। ये शर्तें पगड़ी पहने सिख धर्म के बच्चे पर लागू नहीं होतीं।
बड़े अक्षर क्यों मायने रखते हैं The Highway Code किसी नियम को बड़े अक्षरों में — MUST या MUST NOT — तब लिखता है जब उसके पीछे क़ानून हो, और तब उसका उल्लंघन आपराधिक अपराध बन जाता है। जिन नियमों में बड़े अक्षर नहीं हैं वे सलाह हैं।
